For students studying in the library, the nearest location for a refreshing beverage or snack is The Blend, located on the ground floor of Roesch Library. The Blend serves gourmet espresso drinks, Boston Stoker Coffees, pastries and more. The Blend features sandwich wraps from the ArtStreet Café and 100% natural granola from McCabes Granola, a company run by four University of Dayton alumni. The coffee shop also offers high-top tables and booths that students use for studying, holding meetings and hanging out. The Blend offers soda products, Vitamin Water and Fuze, and accepts cash, credit card and Flyer Express. Freshen up your day with fruit! The Blend and The Blend Express are now selling red apples, bananas, and oranges for only 80 cents each!  Stop by and try some for a healthy snack!

General Manager: Megan Scully

Megan is a sophomore marketing major. She started her first semester freshman year at The Blend. She took part in The Blend Express’ marketing team, and was promoted to general manager in March 2010. As GM, Megan is responsible for The Blend’s operations: making sure machines are working, products are ready to be sold, and customers enjoy their experience in all aspects of their visit to The Blend.

 

Financial Manager: Leanne Harrison

Leanne is an accounting and international business major, with a minor in Spanish.  She was hired at The Blend as a freshman in 2007, and became a product buyer in 2008.  Currently, Leanne is the financial manager for The Blend.

 

 

Director of Human Resources: Nikki Swidarski

Nikki is a junior international business and Spanish major from Hudson, Ohio.  She was hired by The Galley in February 2009 and became the director of human resources for The Blend and The Blend Express in March 2010. Nikki is responsible for staff hiring, management, employee relations and maintaining a high morale at both divisions.

 

Director of Marketing: Danielle Phillips

Danielle is a junior marketing and leadership major from Pioneer, Ohio.  She began working as a barista for The Blend Express in September 2008 and was promoted to director of marketing in March 2009.  As the director of marketing, Danielle plans and carries out all promotions for The Blend and The Blend Express.

 

Division History

The Blend is the oldest operating Flyer Enterprises’ venture. The Blend opened January 21, 2000 in conjunction with the opening of the Learning Teaching Center, located on the ground floor of Roesch Library. The concept of the coffee shop proposed by Dr. Deb Bickford, Associate Provost for Academic Affairs and Learning Initiatives, who proposed the idea of incorporating a student-run operation when planning the LTC proposal and blueprint. Dayton Student Agencies, who later became Flyer Enterprises, created the concept and managed the coffee shop. FE has full financial ownership of the Blend.
